today i went walking in the marias (gay district old jewish district) with my french family. They know I am not straight and they seem to be okay with this, or indifferent. Mostly I feel that I am not really being vulnerable with them, so I’m going to try to open up.
Lesbians here are more like myself in that they do not appear to be anything other than regular women. Exactly as i assumed.
I went to the pompidou today and the palais de tokyo (both modern art) and had revelations about my own interests. inquire more if you are interested.
Yesterday I went to belleville garden and sacre coeur two breathtaking views of paris. This city is HUGE. I also happened upon an outdoor market which is a great place for a panic attack or to pick up an easy date for the evening if you are a female. I never got so many kisses and winks blown my way.
I was stopped twice for directions both in french. I asked a man to hold my crepe poulet fromage while i searched for a map.
the metro is ridiculously easy.
everything smells faintly of urine. bums sleep sprawled on the street I call it free hotel. We have one of these free hotels across from our building.
there is so much cheese in the fridge it is incredible. we keep fresh baguettes in a shopping bag hanging from the turn nob of the kitchen window. the windows open inward like french doors (ha ha) and they are without screens but i have not seen a bug around. door knobs are in the middle of doors here and the keys are huge hunks of metal that have varying chunks taken out of them. they look like sculptures themselves and they are heavy and large.
all of a sudden when I’m walking some huge statue or arch will come into view that’s decades old. much like the ruins in italy. the street signs are on the building corners high up in rather small type for my taste.
stamps are sold at tabac shops where you can also get a wine and a sandwich.
yesterday while looking for the american library I got a sandwich from said tabac shop and saw a sign for a jardin. I turned the corner into the jardin to eat and i was smacked int the face by the eiffel tour. so, i had lunch by the eiffel tour yesterday by accident. just slightly romantic and cliche.
now it is 8 after 9 and dinner is ready so I must go.
salut!
